Megève is a hidden gem – and definitely the place to be!
Megève nestles within view of Mont Blanc offering an extensive ski area. The resort makes a perfect location for a great ski or pampering holiday. This is the place to be if you want traditional alpine charm. The ski slopes and mountain restaurants provide picture-postcard views. What’s more, with no major tour operators in town, it’s amazingly quiet for many weeks each season.
Away from the ski slopes, there is so much to see and do. The town provides a mix of old and new combining historic architecture and cobbled streets. Enjoy browsing around the designer boutiques, cafés, bars and restaurants – and the jazz club is a must visit.
The nearby Palais des Sports leisure centre has a swimming pool/sauna, gymnasium, ice rink, indoor tennis court, sports hall, climbing wall and curling rink. Or for those wishing to take a more leisurely approach, what better place to relax, sit back and be pampered than in one of the many fabulous local spas.
When it comes to food, Megève is the culinary capital of the Alps! Within the town there are a lot of restaurants to choose from, to suit all pockets. These include Michelin-starred fine dining restaurants, brasserie-style eateries, speciality restaurants serving hearty Savoyard favourites such as tartiflette and pella – and there’s even fast food! The SB Ski team in Megève certainly know the best options and can make a booking for you.
Throughout the winter the town also hosts a full calendar of events to enjoy. These include spectacular Christmas and New Year celebrations, plus must-see sporting events that include World Cup ski and ski-cross races, the Polo Masters, and international ice-hockey matches.
