Megève is one of the Ski Club of Great Britain’s top picks for being a drive-friendly resort. The resort is around 550 miles from Calais. It’s easy motorways nearly all the way to Sallanches, then the last 13km is uphill into Megève. The AA provides useful driving information and a detailed route planner. When driving from the UK to the Alps you need to pay road tolls. Pay by credit card, or in local currency – euros or Swiss francs. In France, you can buy a Télépéage window sticker, which allows quick passage through the toll gates.

Perhaps the most relaxed way to enjoy a trip to the Alps is to take the train. Eurostar offers a comprehensive rail service to the Alps during winter.
Sit back and enjoy the scenery on the way to your resort destination. Travel overnight and wake refreshed for a day on the slopes. And then get an additional day’s skiing on the return trip. There are no beds on board, but if you’re on the overnight service you get a comfort pack.
The Eurostar-Provence services runs from London St Pancras every Saturday, from 2nd December to 28th April. The train stops at Lyon Part Dieu where you change for the onward journey to Sallanches, just 12 kms from Megève. There are frequent shuttle buses and taxis to take you up into Megève. The return rail service runs from Sunday to Friday.
