Do something different on your winter sports holiday – fun ideas for family

There are lots of other great ways to enjoy some sporting action while on a winter ski holiday in Megève. Great for an alternative day out, and ideal for non-skiers too.

You don’t only have to be a skier or boarder to enjoy the mountains and get out on the snow. For families with young children there are dedicated sledging tracks in all the main ski areas. The outdoor ice-rink in Megève is always a big hit with children – and a fun après ski activity for all the family.

Keen walkers can take a guided hike, or a snowshoe trek up into the mountains, and enjoy the breathtaking scenery.  For snowshoeing, why not join SB Ski’s favourite guide Gary, at Big Smile Adventures, and get to places the skiers can’t reach!

What about learning how to drive a dog sleigh and discovering the sensations of paw power? Try dog sledding, an experience for all the family to enjoy.

For daredevils who ski, there’s a new AIR BAG at the top of the Petit Rochebrune chair lift. Open to children aged 12 years old and over. It costs just 10 euros for 2 hours of fun.  Tickets can be purchased at the site, or from ESF offices. (This activity is weather dependent).  There are safety requirements – please read this handy information.

Take to the air – or enjoy a swim in the Olympic pool

Visit Le Palais des Sports the town’s centrepiece sports centre. Sports facilities including an Olympic indoor ice-rink, swimming pool and sauna complex, modern gym, climbing wall, curling rink, indoor tennis courts – and more!

Or for daredevils who fly, why not take to the skies and experience a tandem paraglide flight – or view the landscape from on high by taking a balloon, helicopter or small plane flight.  Details on all these events here.

Lots of ideas – and there are lots more too. Just ask at the Hotel Chalet d’Antoine reception for recommendations.  The in-resort team are always happy to help with bookings and provide advice. Or speak to our reservations team in the UK.
